18-year-old Former Bayern Munich Youth Player Left Brain Dead After Training Accident
A devastating incident has occurred involving Guo Jiaxuan, an 18-year-old former Bayern Munich youth player. During a training match in Spain, Guo suffered a severe head injury that has left him brain dead, according to his brother’s social media post.
The young defender, who was part of Bayern Munich’s World Squad in 2023, was participating in a game organized by the Beijing Football Association when he was accidentally struck in the face by another player’s knee. The collision resulted in a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain.
Guo was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors determined that the bleeding in his brain was extensive, leaving little hope for survival. At one point, Guo was reportedly clinically dead due to lack of oxygen to his brain.
The footballer’s father has traveled to Spain and refused doctors’ suggestions to remove life support. The family is now seeking to transport Guo back to China for further treatment, with the Beijing Football Association fully committed to supporting his care.
Guo Jiaxuan, born in Beijing in 2006, was a promising talent who had represented China’s under-17 national team. He was the sole Chinese player selected for Bayern Munich’s World Squad, an international project aimed at developing talented young players from around the globe.
The Spanish club involved in the training match, RC Alcobendas, has expressed deep concern for Guo and offered support to him and his family during this difficult time. The football community awaits further updates on Guo’s condition as his family continues to hope for his recovery.
