Akshay Bhatia WITB 2026: Callaway with a sprinkle of TravisMathew

The rise of left-handed golfers on the PGA Tour always captivates audiences. Historically, legends like Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson have graced the greens, joined by notable players such as Mike Weir and, more recently, Brian Harman, who achieved significant success at The Open Championship in 2023.

Akshay Bhatia is emerging as the latest talent among left-handed golfers. His breakthrough on the PGA Tour occurred at the 2023 Barracuda Championship, after which he transitioned from a Special Temporary Member to a full PGA Tour member.

His playoff victory against Patrick Rodgers marked a pivotal achievement in his PGA Tour career, a highlight that was later surpassed by his performance at the 2024 Valero Texas Open.

Bhatia demonstrated remarkable dominance, establishing a substantial six-shot lead in the final round. However, Denny McCarthy mounted an impressive comeback, carding eight birdies on the back nine.

The contest proceeded to a playoff on the par-5 18th hole. McCarthy’s third shot unfortunately found the water short of the green, paving the way for Bhatia to claim the win and secure his invitation to the Masters.

By 2026, his PGA Tour victories totaled three, highlighted by his triumph at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Following this victory, Bhatia is undoubtedly aiming for stronger performances in the 2026 majors, building on his current best finish of T30 at The Open Championship in 2025.

Akshay Bhatia’s golf bag is exclusively outfitted with Callaway equipment, and he has also recently been named a TravisMathew apparel ambassador. His association with Callaway began early in his career, signing with the brand at 17 when he turned professional in September 2019.

For his driver, the young American golfer alternates between the 2026 Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond Max and the reliable Rogue ST. This choice is noteworthy, given he bypassed the 2024 Ai-Smoke and 2025 Elyte drivers, suggesting considerable satisfaction with the 2026 model.

Depending on course conditions, he occasionally includes a Callaway Prototype mini driver or fairway wood in his setup.

Bhatia employs a Callaway Apex UW prototype hybrid, nominally 19 degrees but adjusted to 17.8 degrees. He is also observed carrying a 21-degree Callaway Apex UW.

His iron set begins with a Callaway X Forged UT 4-iron, followed by Callaway Apex TCB Raw irons (5-PW), complemented by three Callaway Opus wedges.

Completing his bag is an Odyssey Jailbird 360 putter.

Bhatia consistently uses the Callaway Chrome Tour ball, with Callaway’s 2026 model now available.
