Altercation Involving Keyshawn Davis After Brother Kelvin’s Loss

A planned celebratory event for Keyshawn Davis and his boxing brothers, Keon and Kelvin, in Norfolk, Virginia, took a terrible turn on Saturday night. The weekend was meant to be a homecoming, but it ended in chaos at the Scope Arena.

After Nahir Albright unexpectedly defeated Kelvin in the co-main event, a physical confrontation occurred backstage involving Albright and Keyshawn, along with his brother Keon.

This incident concluded a difficult weekend for the Davises, which began when Keyshawn failed to make weight, lost his WBO lightweight championship status, and saw his main event bout against Edwin De Los Santos called off.

Earlier that evening, their younger brother Keon secured a knockout victory. However, the eldest, Kelvin, was defeated by Albright via decision.

Speaking with ESPN`s Mark Kriegel, Albright claimed he was “attacked” by Keyshawn and Keon backstage following his win over Kelvin. He showed clear signs of injury, including swelling above his right eye.

“They approached me aggressively, putting his head close to mine, and then grabbed me,” Albright recounted. “I was preparing to defend myself,” he added, “but my team and others intervened, restraining Keyshawn, and things got chaotic.”

Albright also told reporters present that Keyshawn had head-butted him. He stated he would consider taking legal action with his team.

Kelvin Davis later issued a statement on social media expressing regret for the incident but denying that his brothers had “jumped” anyone.

Kelvin wrote, “On behalf of DB3, we apologize for our conduct. Tensions were high, and emotions took over. We will return more professional… That said, WE DID NOT JUMP ANYONE.”

“We apologize to all the young people who look up to us. We need to set better examples,” he concluded.

Albright and Keyshawn Davis have a history from a previous fight. Keyshawn initially won their 2023 bout by unanimous decision, but the result was changed to a no-contest after Keyshawn tested positive for marijuana.

“It`s truly regrettable, but it has fueled the rivalry,” Albright commented to Kriegel. “Keyshawn, we need a rematch – inside the ring, not outside.”
