Amin Tabatabaei delivered an exceptional performance at the Reykjavík Open, clinching a decisive victory through a truly dominant display of his chess prowess. His journey to claiming the championship trophy included an incredible streak of seven consecutive wins at the tournament’s outset, ultimately sealing his triumph with two draws in the concluding rounds. Finishing in a strong second place was US Grandmaster Zhou Jianchao, who ended the competition just half a point behind the champion.

The third spot on the podium went to the revered Ukrainian legend Vasyl Ivanchuk. Ivanchuk’s position was secured thanks to his superior tiebreak score, placing him ahead of a competitive group of seven players who all amassed a total of 7 points.
