Amorim Takes Responsibility for Rashford Loan, Cites Differing Visions

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has disclosed that the decision to loan Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa was his own, stemming from an inability to align the forward with his tactical approach.

Rashford, a product of United’s youth academy, joined Villa on loan for the remainder of the season after nearly two decades at his boyhood club. Amorim offered no assurances of Rashford’s future at United beyond the current campaign.

“I was unable to get Marcus to embrace my football philosophy and training methods,” Amorim stated. “Sometimes a player excels under one manager but struggles with another. The important thing is that I’m taking responsibility for this decision.”

The Portuguese manager acknowledged the risks of overhauling the squad mid-season without new signings, but stood firm on his vision for the team. “I’m not naive. This is a results-driven business and we’re in a difficult position. But I have a clear idea of what I want to achieve,” he explained.

Despite United’s struggles under his leadership, including seven losses in 13 Premier League matches, Amorim expressed confidence in the board’s support. “I understand the challenging environment with our home losses, but I feel the owners’ backing,” he said.

As United prepare to face Leicester City in the FA Cup, led by former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, Amorim remains focused on implementing his vision for the club’s future.
