Ange Postecoglou Set to Remain as Tottenham Manager Despite Possible FA Cup Elimination

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is likely to keep his job even if the team exits the FA Cup this weekend. Only a devastating loss to Aston Villa would put significant pressure on chairman Daniel Levy to consider dismissing the Australian coach.

However, Postecoglou acknowledges that Tottenham’s upcoming Premier League fixtures against Manchester United and Ipswich Town could prove decisive for his future at the club. He views the match against United as an opportunity to “relaunch our campaign.”

The manager will have a rare two-week period without midweek matches to work with the squad and help injured players return to fitness. This comes as the team faces setbacks with injuries to key players like Richarlison and Radu Dragusin.

Postecoglou plans to use the upcoming break strategically, saying: “We’ll use it wisely to rest players who need it and hopefully get some work into those who have been out for a while to prepare for the challenges ahead. I believe these two weeks will be very important for how we finish our season.”

While an FA Cup exit would eliminate another chance for Tottenham to end their 17-year trophy drought, the league matches against Manchester United and Ipswich may ultimately determine whether Postecoglou gets the opportunity to pursue European glory in the Europa League.

The manager dismissed criticism from pundits following Tottenham’s recent 4-0 loss to Liverpool, stating: “I don’t have any obligation to listen to any of it. It’s irrelevant what people’s opinions are. I don’t even know them. Why would I care where they think we’re at? They are a million miles away from us.”
