Anthem Servers Set to Shut Down Permanently in January 2026

Electronic Arts and BioWare studio have officially announced the forthcoming end of support for the shooter game Anthem. According to a statement published on the game`s official website, the servers will be permanently deactivated on January 12, 2026. Following this date, access to the game will be entirely terminated.

As of the announcement time, premium in-game currency for Anthem can no longer be purchased. However, any existing funds can be spent before the servers are shut down. The developers expressed gratitude to the community for their years of support and stated that the decision to discontinue the service was made after careful review and analysis. Anthem was initially released in February 2019, marketed as an online-focused cooperative action title set in a science-fiction universe.

In an accompanying FAQ, BioWare clarified that the game cannot function in offline mode, as it was fundamentally designed as a title requiring a constant connection to its servers. Anthem will remain accessible within the EA Play library until August 15, after which it will be removed from the subscription service. Owners of the full purchased version will still retain the ability to download and launch the game until the final shutdown date of January 12, 2026.
