Arsenal Youngster Taunts Haaland with Celebratory Pose After Goal vs Man City
Arsenal’s teenage sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly cheekily imitated Erling Haaland’s famous meditation celebration after scoring against Manchester City on Sunday. The 18-year-old found the net to put Arsenal 3-1 up against Pep Guardiola’s side at the Emirates Stadium.
Lewis-Skelly scored with an impressive strike in the 61st minute, netting his first Premier League goal. But it was his celebration that really got Arsenal fans talking, before Mikel Arteta’s team went on to secure an emphatic 5-1 victory over City.
The young full-back sat on the ground in Haaland’s signature meditation pose near the corner flag after scoring. His teammates huddled around him laughing, clearly amused by the cheeky celebration aimed at City’s star striker.
Haaland’s celebration involves sitting cross-legged in a meditative position, similar to the “Lotus” pose in yoga. He typically does this after scoring, sitting calmly with his wrists resting on his knees.
Arsenal fans loved the boldness from teenager Lewis-Skelly, who was only cleared to play after having a red card from last week overturned. Many praised his “ice cold” attitude and “top-tier trolling” of Haaland on social media.
The celebration added further spice to an already heated rivalry between Arsenal and City. Earlier in the match, Gabriel had celebrated aggressively in Haaland’s face after Arsenal took the lead.
Lewis-Skelly and Haaland had previously clashed earlier this season, with the Norwegian reportedly shouting “Who the f*** are you?” at the then 17-year-old Lewis-Skelly during a post-match scuffle.
Arsenal manager Arteta has previously praised Lewis-Skelly’s competitive nature, calling him a “special character” who is always eager to make an impact.
The convincing win moves Arsenal closer to league leaders Liverpool in the title race, while dealing a blow to City’s hopes of retaining their crown. With young talents like Lewis-Skelly stepping up, Arsenal look set to push the Manchester club all the way this season.
