Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Reportedly Headed to Nintendo Switch

Five years ago, developer ArtPlay and publisher 505 Games first announced that a sequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a spiritual successor to the beloved Castlevania series, was in development. The game was officially unveiled as Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement during the summer gaming showcases in June 2025.

At its initial reveal, the game was announced for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, notably omitting any Nintendo platforms. However, a recent update from an editor employee via LinkedIn now indicates that the game will also be released on the Nintendo Switch, with no specific mention of the Switch 2. Interestingly, another line within the same post refers to an “unannounced” game slated for a Switch 2 launch in 2026, which could potentially be a future Bloodstained title.

Last month, the gaming community received the sad news that Konami veteran Shutaro Iida, who was working on Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement at ArtPlay, had tragically passed away after battling cancer. This game will stand as his final contribution to the industry, a work he sadly never saw completed.
