Apple TV already boasts an impressive roster of projects, and its future appears even more ambitious with the development of a dedicated cinematic universe based on the works of author Brandon Sanderson. Specifically, this initiative focuses on the Mistborn series, an integral part of Sanderson’s broader Cosmere universe. Notably, Sanderson himself is penning the script for this initial film adaptation.
Recently, the author provided a significant update on the project, revealing he’s approximately halfway through completing the first film’s screenplay. He also mentioned receiving positive initial feedback from Apple TV executives regarding his progress. Sanderson elaborated, stating, “The Mistborn script is 50% done. I’m making good progress on it, I’ve had good feedback discussing with the studio and things like that, with Apple, on what they expect. They haven’t read it yet, but I feel really good about how it’s going.”
Mistborn is merely one of several high-profile adaptations currently in development at Apple TV. The platform is also actively working on a ‘Neuromancer’ adaptation, a ‘Berlin Noir’ project, and further collaborations with Sanderson, including a series based on his acclaimed ‘The Stormlight Archive’.
