Following the successful 4K remake of the classic point-and-click adventure, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, Revolution Software has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a remastered version of the second title in the series: Broken Sword: Smoking Mirror: Reforged.
The campaign, which began today with a £50,000 (approximately €57,000) target, offers digital and physical copies of a collector’s edition to its backers. The project has seen phenomenal success, achieving its funding goal in a mere 15 minutes and currently surpassing its target by nearly 700%.
Remarkably, a significant number of backers have opted for the highest pledge level, which includes a lavish collector’s edition packed with physical content, such as the game’s vinyl soundtrack, personally signed by Charles Cecil, the creator of the series.
Charles Cecil expressed his gratitude to the fans for their swift and overwhelming support, hinting at a continued commitment to bringing the series’ games up to modern quality standards. He stated, “Thank you so much for the extraordinary support you have shown us for this project in such a short amount of time. It is an immense privilege that you place so much trust in us.”
He further added, “Your passion for our games makes us incredibly proud. We promise to reward you with truly great games, now and in the future.” This success has also ignited speculation about the potential for a future Broken Sword 6.
