Candidates Tournament Round 7 – Key Matches

The Candidates Tournaments represent the decisive qualifying stage for the FIDE World Championship cycle. Each tournament features eight of the globe’s strongest chess players, competing in a challenging double round-robin format over fourteen rounds of classical chess.

In the Open section, the current sole leader, Javohkir Sindarov, will play with the white pieces against Anish Giri in Sunday’s highly anticipated seventh round. Concurrently, in the Women’s tournament, leader Anna Muzychuk is scheduled to face Bibisara Assaubayeva in another pivotal match.
