Capcom has weighed in on the ongoing discussion surrounding the use of Artificial Intelligence in game development. The company recently clarified its detailed plans for integrating AI technology during a presentation to its shareholders.
The gaming giant stated that human talent will remain at the core of their game creation process, but AI will be strategically utilized to streamline development workflows. Their official statement highlighted this commitment:
“Our company will not implement AI-generated assets into the content of our video games. Instead, going forward, we plan to actively use this technology to improve the efficiency and productivity of game development. We are therefore currently testing various methods of use across all of our departments, including graphics, sound, and programming.”
Given the consistent critical acclaim, entertainment value, and best-selling status of Capcom’s titles over the past five to ten years, it comes as no surprise that the company is cautious about making radical changes. This measured approach suggests a focus on leveraging AI as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human creativity and craftsmanship, ensuring the continued quality fans expect from their beloved franchises.
