Chef Reveals Premier League Star’s Secret to Success: Beef Broth

Premier League footballers are known for their strict diets, but one superstar uses a special ingredient to gain a competitive edge.

That ingredient is broth – perfect for soup, cooking rice, or even drinking straight.

This Manchester City star consumes this ingredient every day, often multiple times.

His personal chef, Diogo Prego, strongly believes in broth due to its health benefits, ensuring his client maintains a healthy diet.

Diogo shared with SunSport: “Broth is always in the freezer, and I use it in soup, for cooking rice, and even as a drink. Beef broth is incredibly healthy and rich in collagen.”

“We focus on natural foods like steaks, spinach, broccoli – all the healthy essentials.”

“He avoids sugar, and we maintain a healthy diet with plenty of broth, which I prepare myself.”

With no sugar allowed, Diogo gets creative with snacks and cookies.

He shops daily in Manchester`s Northern Quarter to guarantee the freshest ingredients for the City player.

While the player enjoys Poke bowls and Pad Thai before and after matches, his favorite dish is Bacalhau à Brás, a Portuguese cod dish with salt cod, potatoes, onions, and eggs.

Diogo is proud to have introduced new dishes to the Premier League winner, although the player still enjoys burgers and pizzas as cheat meals.

He added: “For pre-match and post-match meals, we focus on slow-absorbing carbs, good protein, and fruits.”

“Think barley, homemade pasta. Post-match meals often include poke bowls, packed with omega-3 and carbs, perfect for recovery.”

“I constantly prepare homemade protein bars and sugar-free cookies, along with immunity-boosting meals.”

Trained in Portugal, Diogo left his restaurant of five years to work with the City star.

He appreciates leaving behind the restaurant`s demanding hours and has become friends with his client, even attending concerts together.

However, being a chef for a Premier League star has its unique challenges.

Diogo mentioned: “Beef Wellington is the only dish that requires extra effort. It’s quite a pain.”

“I have many things to prepare – snacks, broth, dinner – and keeping the kitchen and pantry organized is crucial.”

“One of the toughest aspects is creating new dishes every week.”

“Balancing a diverse menu is challenging. Cooking different dishes daily requires constant research and watching food programs. Thankfully, my client isn`t picky, which makes it easier.”
