Chelsea Fans Blast ‘Amateur Ownership’ After Key Player’s Early Injury
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke was forced off with an apparent hamstring injury just 19 minutes into the team’s Premier League match against Brighton on Wednesday. The 22-year-old England international signaled to the bench that he needed to be substituted before receiving medical attention on the pitch.
Madueke has been a regular starter for Chelsea this season, featuring in 18 of their 25 league games so far. His early exit frustrated fans watching at home, with many blaming the club’s leadership for a lack of squad depth.
One supporter wrote on social media: “Madueke injured. That’s what happens when you don’t sign anyone and let players leave for cheap. Amateur ownership.”
Another commented: “Noni Madueke hamstring injury… Thanks Chelsea sporting directors!”
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed after the match: “Unfortunately, Noni has a hamstring problem. He will be sidelined for some time.”
The Blues were already without forwards Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu due to injury, while Mykhailo Mudryk is suspended. The club also recently allowed Joao Felix to join AC Milan on loan.
Chelsea have struggled for form lately, winning just two of their last eight Premier League matches. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton in their previous outing.
Shortly after Madueke’s injury, Brighton took the lead through Kaoru Mitoma. Yankuba Minteh then doubled the advantage before halftime and added a third goal after the break as Brighton secured a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The injury setback comes at an unfortunate time for Madueke, who had reportedly been under consideration for the England national team by new manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of upcoming international fixtures next month.
