Chelsea Player Ratings: Defense Falters in 3-0 Loss to Brighton
Chelsea endured another disappointing result, falling 3-0 to Brighton in Premier League action. The Blues’ defensive issues were on full display as they struggled to contain Brighton’s attack throughout the match.
Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen (5/10) had a difficult outing but couldn’t be faulted for all three goals conceded. The defense in front of him offered little protection, with Levi Colwill (5/10) having an especially poor performance. Colwill was caught out of position multiple times and looked hesitant in challenges.
In midfield, Moises Caicedo (7/10) was Chelsea’s standout player despite jeers from Brighton fans. The former Seagulls midfielder battled hard and was one of the few bright spots for the visitors. However, Chelsea’s attack failed to threaten, with Cole Palmer (5/10) visibly frustrated by a lack of service.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino will have plenty to ponder as Chelsea’s struggles continue. The Blues have now lost back-to-back matches to Brighton across all competitions, highlighting the work still needed to improve the squad.
With injuries mounting in attack and defensive frailties exposed once again, Chelsea face an uphill battle to salvage their season. More consistent performances will be needed from key players if they hope to climb the Premier League table in the coming weeks.
