Cloud9 Temporarily Exits Counter-Strike 2 Scene
Cloud9, a prominent esports organization, has announced a temporary halt to its Counter-Strike 2 operations. The news was shared through the organization’s social media channels, signaling a pause in their CS2 involvement.
The decision follows a series of roster changes that occurred in late 2024 and early 2025. The previous Cloud9 CS2 lineup was dismantled after several key players departed for other teams. Kairat “ICY” Faiznurov transferred to Virtus.pro, while Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov and Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov joined BetBoom Team. Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko moved to G2 Esports, and Timofey “interz” Yakushin also left the roster. In February, the organization parted ways with manager Alexander “sweetypotz” Shcherbakov and coach Konstantin “Groove” Pikiner. Currently, Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy remains the sole member of Cloud9’s CS2 roster, albeit in a reserve position.
The timeline for Cloud9’s return to the professional CS2 scene remains uncertain. However, the organization has previously hinted at potentially reassembling its former lineup, which included players like Timothy “autimatic” Ta and Tarik “tarik” Celik. This roster achieved notable success in the past, including a victory at the ELEAGUE Major 2018.
