UFC welterweight fighter Daniel Rodriguez has confirmed his release from a Mexican jail, where he was held for eight months. The exact reasons for his detention remain undisclosed at this time.
Rodriguez expressed his resilience, stating, “Eight months in a cage in Tijuana, Mexico, did not break my spirit.” He added that he remained focused and prepared for his return to the UFC octagon, promising a more determined and sharp version of himself. He believes his time in confinement has transformed him into a stronger competitor. Rodriguez extended his gratitude to his legal team, management, family, and true friends for their support in securing his freedom.
His management team informed MMA Junkie that a comprehensive statement regarding the situation will be released next week.
Rodriguez, also known as “D-Rod,” last competed at UFC 318 in July 2025, securing a unanimous decision victory against Kevin Holland. His professional mixed martial arts record now stands at 20 wins and 5 losses.
