Dota 2 Encounters Modified Smoke of Deceit Bug Following Recent Patch

Dota 2 players have discovered a new iteration of a bug that enables them to identify the presence of Smoke of Deceit and other items in their opponents’ inventories. This issue was brought to light by Team Spirit analyst Mark “sikle” Lerman through his personal Telegram channel.

This isn’t the first time such a bug has appeared in Dota 2. The previous version, which persisted for several months, was addressed by Valve on January 25th following a controversy at ESL One Raleigh 2025. During that event, multiple teams were accused of exploiting the bug.

The reemergence of this issue, albeit in a modified form, highlights the ongoing challenges faced by developers in maintaining fair play within the game. As the community awaits an official response from Valve, players and competitive teams are advised to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
