A new way to check for Smoke of Deceit or any other item in an opponent’s inventory has been found in Dota 2. The author of the Telegram channel voidslpoit pointed out the third version of the vulnerability associated with the consumable.
The bug appears in the description of an item, including Smoke of Deceit, that was previously seen on an opponent. By performing the algorithm described, you can find out if the artifact or consumable remains in its original state, even if it was transferred to a courier or dropped to the ground.
At the end of January, ESL disqualified Natus Vincere Junior from ESL One Raleigh 2025 for using a Smoke of Deceit bug. Later it turned out that players from Tundra Esports, Team Spirit and 9Pandas did the same. More details about the situation can be found in the material. Valve has already fixed this vulnerability twice, but users continue to find new variations of it.
