Ed Sheeran Admits to Ten Pints Before Interview Gaffe with Ruben Amorim

Ed Sheeran has confessed that he consumed ten pints of beer before he awkwardly interrupted Ruben Amorim`s first interview as Manchester United`s manager after a match.

The famous singer experienced a slightly embarrassing situation when he greeted Jamie Redknapp near the pitch after Ipswich`s game against Manchester United at Portman Road ended in a draw.

Sheeran, who owns a minority stake in Ipswich, had been enjoying his custom-built director`s box before the game. He mentioned that he had renovated it into a pub.

He admitted to having ten pints before and during the match, which led to the awkward moment when he interrupted Amorim`s post-match interview with Sky Sports.

Reflecting on the event, Sheeran told Men in Blazers: “It was during the Manchester United game when I didn`t realize Ruben Amorim was being interviewed. I honestly didn`t know.”

“Jamie Redknapp had invited me to see him afterward, and as I was walking out, having had about 10 pints, I saw Jamie and thought, `Oh, I`ll go say hi to Jamie.`”

“It was definitely the wrong timing – very clearly the wrong timing – but I`ve learned my lesson, and it won`t happen again.”

Sheeran, 34, later apologized for the interruption, stating he didn`t realize Amorim was being interviewed.

He explained: “Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday. I genuinely didn`t realize he was being interviewed at that moment.”

“I just popped over to say hello and goodbye to Jamie Redknapp. I feel a bit of a fool, but life goes on.”

“Great game though. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

Amorim later made a joke about the situation and playfully suggested that Sheeran was standing next to the bigger star, Roy Keane.

He commented: “Here, you are used to such things, but in Portugal, it`s different.”

“For me, it was nothing. I was with Roy Keane, he`s a true star, so it was absolutely fine.”
