Battlestate Games has announced plans for a hardcore wipe in Escape from Tarkov, which could potentially be the last before the game exits its beta phase. Details regarding future patches were shared in an updated roadmap.
The hardcore wipe is scheduled for the July patch, version 0.16.8. Specifics are currently undisclosed, but players speculate that the wipe will involve limited access to the marketplace and require trading with vendors for essential items. Additionally, patch 0.16.8 will introduce new PMC customization options, extra prestige levels, and various fixes.
For August, the developers of Escape from Tarkov have planned update 0.16.9. With this update, the studio intends to improve balance based on player feedback, optimize locations such as Shoreline, Epicenter, and Interchange, add synchronization for PvE accounts, and further expand PMC customization. Furthermore, an in-game event is expected in August, and likely towards the end of the month, the season will transition to autumn.
Escape from Tarkov has been available in a beta testing format since 2017. The upcoming July wipe in version 0.16.8 is being viewed as potentially the final one before the shooter`s full release. Battlestate Games aims to launch version 1.0 by the end of 2025, with patch 0.16.9 being the last major update before the release. After the game`s full launch, new quests and story cutscenes will be added – viewing these in PvE will require an account wipe. The studio also confirms continued support for the game, including through DLCs.
