Everton Sets Premier League Record with Lightning-Fast Goal Against Leicester

Everton made Premier League history on Saturday with an incredibly quick goal against Leicester City. Midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure found the back of the net just 10.18 seconds after kickoff, setting a new record for fastest goal scored by a home team in Premier League history.

The lightning-fast strike came directly from Everton’s kickoff. James Garner passed the ball back to goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who launched a long ball upfield. Doucoure took advantage of poor defending by Leicester to control the ball and slot it past goalkeeper Mads Hermansen before many fans had even settled into their seats.

At 10.18 seconds, it goes down as the fourth fastest goal overall in Premier League history. Shane Long holds the all-time record with a 7.69 second goal for Southampton in 2019. Philip Billing scored after 9.11 seconds for Bournemouth last season, while Ledley King netted for Tottenham after 9.82 seconds back in 2000.

The dream start got even better for Everton when striker Beto doubled their lead in the 6th minute. Beto then scored again just before halftime to make it 3-0. Iliman Ndiaye added a fourth goal in stoppage time to complete the rout.

The comprehensive 4-0 victory gives Everton a crucial three points in their battle against relegation. Manager David Moyes will be thrilled with both the result and his team’s record-breaking start to the match. For Leicester, it was a disastrous performance that leaves them in serious danger near the bottom of the table.
