In a groundbreaking move, Japanese police have apprehended four individuals for their involvement in the creation and distribution of pornographic content produced using neural networks.
The authorities detained three men and one woman, aged between 20 and 50. This group reportedly trained a neural network using existing pornographic and erotic images. They then utilized this AI to generate new, artificial images, which they subsequently marketed and sold online as pornographic posters and other products. According to one of the arrested individuals, this illicit trade generated over $77,000 (10 million yen) in revenue within a single year.
This case represents the first instance of arrests related to the distribution of AI-generated pornographic materials in Japan. It is noteworthy that while the creation and sale of such content are not explicitly prohibited in Japan, they are subject to censorship regulations concerning certain scenes and details.
