Former Arsenal player targeted for loan transfer by Sheffield United and Coventry
Sheffield United and Coventry City are vying to secure a loan deal for former Arsenal defender Rob Holding before the transfer window closes. The 29-year-old Crystal Palace player has caught the attention of both Championship clubs as they look to bolster their defensive options.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder had initially targeted QPR’s Jimmy Dunne, but balked at the £3 million asking price for a player entering the final months of his contract. This has led the Blades to turn their focus to Holding as a more economical loan option.
However, Coventry City and manager Frank Lampard are also keen on bringing in the experienced center-back. Holding has struggled for playing time at Crystal Palace this season and could be open to a temporary move to gain more minutes on the pitch.
With the transfer deadline looming, both clubs are working to finalize a deal for Holding. His Premier League experience and defensive abilities make him an attractive target as Sheffield United and Coventry aim to strengthen their squads for the second half of the Championship campaign.
The next 24 hours will be crucial in determining whether Holding ends up at Bramall Lane or the Coventry Building Society Arena. Whichever club manages to secure his signature will be adding a solid defensive reinforcement as they push for promotion to the Premier League.
