Unified heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk has disclosed that his promoter, Frank Warren, has pledged to buy him a Bentley automobile if he successfully defends his titles against Daniel Dubois on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
Usyk, who holds a professional record of 23 wins with no losses and 14 knockouts, is aiming to become the undisputed heavyweight champion once more in this return bout. His opponent, Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), recently claimed the IBF title that Usyk previously vacated, having defeated Filip Hrgovic in June and then stopping Anthony Joshua in September.
The 38-year-old Ukrainian champion shared the details of Warren`s promise during an interview with the BBC. According to Usyk, Warren`s offer was framed with absolute certainty: “Frank told me, when you beat Daniel, I`ll buy you a Bentley. Not if… when.`”
This upcoming fight is a rematch of their contentious meeting in 2023. In that bout, Usyk secured a ninth-round technical knockout victory, but the outcome was overshadowed by controversy surrounding a punch from Dubois in the fifth round that was ruled a low blow, after initially putting Usyk down.
Following that defeat, the 27-year-old Dubois has been vocal about his desire for a second chance against Usyk.
When questioned by the BBC about the source of his confidence heading into the rematch, Usyk attributed his unwavering belief in victory to several factors: “Because of my training, because I want this more. My team helps me, my child, my country, my God.”
