Fulham Edges Past Nottingham Forest 2-1 in Thrilling Premier League Encounter
Fulham manager Marco Silva became the first Premier League boss this season to complete a double over the high-flying Nottingham Forest. Defender Calvin Bassey’s second-half winner maintained Fulham’s unexpected dominance over their Champions League-chasing visitors.
The Cottagers have now won five out of six matches against Forest since both teams were promoted to the top flight three years ago. This victory propelled Silva’s side into the top ten while dealing a psychological blow to the in-form Forest.
Emile Smith Rowe put Fulham ahead with a well-timed header from Adama Traore’s cross in the 15th minute. However, Chris Wood equalized for Forest with his 18th Premier League goal of the season, showcasing his strength by shrugging off two defenders before scoring.
The decisive moment came just after the hour mark when Bassey produced an elegant back-post header from a corner to secure the win for Fulham. This latest edition of the football mini-series between the two teams proved to be another tightly contested affair.
Despite the loss, Forest remains third in the league, far exceeding expectations compared to last season. The defeat is unlikely to significantly dampen their spirits, even though it marks their second consecutive away loss.
For Fulham, the match also saw the reintroduction of Brazilian winger Willian for his third debut with the club, having been signed in the January transfer window as cover for the injured Harry Wilson.
This result further cements Fulham’s surprising record against Forest and provides a boost to their mid-table aspirations, while Forest will look to bounce back and maintain their unexpected push for European qualification.
