Haik Martirosyan Claims Agzamov Memorial Title After Tiebreak Thriller

Grandmaster Haik Martirosyan clinched the 19th Agzamov Memorial title in Tashkent, prevailing on tiebreak after an intense battle with 16-year-old Artem Uskov. Both top contenders concluded the tournament with an impressive score of 7½ points out of a possible 9. Their head-to-head encounter in round seven resulted in a draw, maintaining the tension. Martirosyan then gained a crucial advantage by securing a win in round eight. Despite Uskov’s determined effort to catch up with a final-round victory over Abhimanyu Puranik, Martirosyan’s superior tiebreak score ultimately secured him the championship trophy. A group of six other highly skilled players finished just half a point behind, highlighting the fierce competition throughout the event.
