According to insider Daniel Richtman, Sony has not abandoned its plans for a film adaptation of FromSoftware`s critically acclaimed game, Bloodborne. The company is reportedly still moving forward with the project.
Reports of a potential Bloodborne movie first emerged in 2023, but there has been no official confirmation from Sony since then. Richtman`s information indicates that Sony is currently in the process of searching for a producer to oversee the film`s development, though the list of potential candidates remains undisclosed. Earlier rumors also suggested that Bill Skarsgård, known for his role in the “It” films, might be considered for the lead role in the adaptation.
The original Bloodborne game was released in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. It received widespread positive reviews from both critics and players upon launch. Over the past eight years, various unconfirmed rumors regarding the possible development of an updated version or remaster of the game have circulated, but none of these reports have proven to be true so far. Separately, in February 2025, FromSoftware conducted a survey among its fanbase to gauge interest in a potential sequel to the game.
