ITV Issues Apology for Player’s On-Air Profanity After Plymouth’s FA Cup Upset

ITV was compelled to issue an apology after Plymouth Argyle defender Nikola Katic used strong language twice during a live post-match interview following the team’s stunning 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Katic, who was visibly elated after the match, exclaimed “I f***ing love it!” twice while being interviewed live on air. The Croatian defender, who is on loan from Swiss club FC Zurich, had put in a stellar performance, making 11 crucial headed clearances during the game.

The incident occurred as Plymouth, currently at the bottom of the Championship, pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent FA Cup history by defeating the Premier League leaders. Ryan Hardie scored the winning goal from the penalty spot early in the second half after the ball struck Harvey Elliott’s raised arms inside the penalty area.

ITV presenter Mark Pougatch quickly addressed the situation, stating: “We sincerely apologize for the inappropriate language used during the interview.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had made significant changes to his lineup, resting key players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Alisson ahead of their upcoming Premier League and Champions League fixtures.

The FA Cup fifth-round draw is scheduled to take place on Monday evening, with Plymouth Argyle now looking forward to potentially facing another top-tier opponent in the next round of the competition.
