Jake Paul Secures Dominant Win Over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Jake Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in their scheduled 10-round cruiserweight fight on Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The judges` scores were 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92, all in favor of Paul.

This win extends Paul`s (12-1, 7 KOs) winning streak to six consecutive bouts since his split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023. Prior to facing Chavez, Paul notably defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson via unanimous decision in November.

Chavez (54-7-1, 34 KOs), a former WBC middleweight world champion who claimed the title with a majority decision over Sebastian Zbik in June 2011 and successfully defended it three times, competed at cruiserweight for the third time in a row.

This fight held significant implications for Paul. A win against Chavez potentially clears the path for Paul to enter the WBC`s cruiserweight (200 lbs) rankings, bringing him closer to his stated ambition of competing for a world title.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman commented on Paul`s potential ranking before the fight, stating, “`The WBC ratings committee has been following Jake Paul`s career. If he defeats Chavez, and depending on the performance, the committee will make the decision. A convincing win makes his ranking very likely.`”
