Jennifer English Nearly Missed Audition for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

From the realms of Elden Ring to Baldur’s Gate III, and with upcoming titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Tides of Annihilation, gamers worldwide can’t seem to get enough of Jennifer English. The acclaimed British actress is currently celebrating multiple successes for her captivating portrayal of Maelle in Sandfall Interactive’s highly anticipated game. However, she recently revealed that, much like the rest of us, she’s prone to forgetting important tasks.

In an interview with Radio Times Gaming, English disclosed that she very nearly didn’t audition for the role of Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33—simply because it slipped her mind. Fortunately, as the role only required her voice, she managed to complete the audition from her bed at two in the morning.

“‘I’ll just record it on my bed at 2 AM, which is exactly what happened with Expedition 33 because I forgot to do it. Don’t be like me. Yes, usually last minute and late,’ English confessed about her last-minute scramble.”

For other acting opportunities, the audition process can be significantly more involved. Some companies demand both voice acting and motion capture. English recalled instances where she had to film herself from the knees up to secure a part. Actors might also be provided with specific scenes or a few lines in advance to interpret, allowing them to showcase their character portrayal skills. The entire process certainly sounds quite intricate and demanding.
