jL assesses NAVI’s form ahead of BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025

NAVI rifler Justinas “jL” Lekavicius shared his feelings and perspective on the team`s readiness for the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 CS2 tournament. He discussed this during an interview with the tournament organizers while at a team boot camp.

[Question: `How do you feel ahead of the Major, considering the year`s results?`] It depends on how you look at it. Right now, I feel optimistic and look towards the future positively because we are currently in a boot camp. It`s the fourth day, and at first, things felt a bit difficult, but we are working on certain maps.

The feeling is good. It gives me confidence. If I recall the boot camp before PGL Copenhagen 2024, the impressions were similar. We didn`t have very high expectations, but we prepared well back then, and things are going great now too. So, if we continue in this manner, we have a chance.

jL clarified that NAVI`s recent downturn isn`t solely due to a lack of sufficient boot camps.

There haven`t been many opportunities to gather for a boot camp. But, honestly, it`s not just about that. We didn`t win tournaments in 2024 solely thanks to boot camps.

Of course, a boot camp is better than just practicing online. But you can`t say we are playing worse this year *specifically* because of a lack of boot camps.

I don`t know. Of course, there are many reasons. Our understanding of the game clearly lags behind top teams. Certain things seem simple outside the server, but as soon as you enter the game and have to execute them, it`s not so easy. We have all dropped in terms of firepower, but it all comes down to our team play. I don`t know, there are many reasons.

Lekavicius also reflected on the team`s objectives for the Major.

[Winning] is the main task in every tournament. Of course, we want to perform as well as possible. The main goal of the boot camp is to prepare properly so we have no regrets afterwards. Even if we reach the semi-finals or the final, it will be important to know that we did everything we could, and if we lost, it was because the opponent was stronger, not because we messed up ourselves. That`s probably our goal.

NAVI will begin their campaign at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 in the third stage, which starts on June 12th. 16 teams will compete for eight spots in the playoffs.
