Jordan Henderson Strongly Denies Wanting Monaco Transfer in Heated Exchange with Journalist

Ajax captain Jordan Henderson forcefully rejected allegations that he had been pushing for a move to Monaco during a contentious press conference exchange with a journalist. The former Liverpool midfielder appeared visibly agitated when questioned about reports that a club official had stated Henderson desired the transfer.

“Did the coach tell you I wanted to go to Monaco because of a big offer? That’s not true,” Henderson asserted, shaking his head emphatically. “I know the truth. I know what happened. I’m not here to give you details.”

Henderson insisted he had always been willing to play for Ajax and did not require any convincing to do so. He emphasized that neither the coach nor anyone else needed to persuade him to continue with the team.

The 34-year-old England international had reportedly declined to captain Ajax in their Europa League victory over Galatasaray days earlier, leading to speculation about his future with the Dutch club. However, Henderson was restored as captain for Ajax’s subsequent 2-1 win against rivals Feyenoord.

Despite the controversy, sources claim Henderson has assured Ajax’s technical director that he intends to remain with the club for the remainder of the season. The midfielder is under contract with Ajax until 2026, reportedly earning around £66,000 per week.
