Sven Vincke, the head of Larian Studios, has refuted claims that single-player games are dying out. In a social media post, he commented on the widespread opinion that single-player titles are losing out to service-based games.
Vincke is confident that the “funeral” for story-driven games is premature. He stated on X (formerly Twitter) that such titles simply “need to be made well” to attract a large audience and be profitable. However, some users in the comments noted that even quality titles can fail, as the success of a game depends on more than just the developers’ efforts.
Larian Studios previously announced that they are working on two new games unrelated to the Dungeons & Dragons universe. Details about the setting of these projects are yet to be revealed. The studio’s latest release is Baldur’s Gate 3, which came out in 2023.
