Following recent matches, Mikaela Mayer is making significant progress in the pound-for-pound rankings, while Lauren Price has broken into the top 10 for the first time.

Mayer (21 wins, 2 losses, 5 KOs) successfully defended her WBO welterweight title against Sandy Ryan in a rematch on Saturday. Their previous encounter in September was closely contested, with Mayer winning by a narrow majority decision. However, in this second fight, Mayer demonstrated clear dominance throughout the majority of the rounds, securing victory with unanimous scores of 98-92, 97-93, and 97-93.

After her win, Mayer commented, `I wanted to give Sandy a rematch because our first fight was fantastic and deserved a second showing. I believe rematches are justified when they are something the fans are eager to see. We had our rematch, and I`ve now defeated Sandy twice. My focus is now on moving forward and aiming for undisputed champion status, potentially against Lauren Price.`

Price (9 wins, 0 losses, 2 KOs), who holds the WBC, IBF, and WBA welterweight titles, achieved unification by decisively defeating former champion Natasha Jonas on March 7. Jonas had previously defeated Mayer by split decision in January 2024.

Price`s victory over Jonas was a clear unanimous decision, with one judge scoring every round in her favor (100-90, 98-92, and 98-93). A future match between Mayer and Price would determine the first undisputed welterweight champion since Jessica McCaskill in 2022.

As a result of these victories, Mayer has climbed one position to 6th place, and Price has entered the rankings at 7th. Savannah Marshall has been removed from the rankings due to inactivity.
