Manchester City supporters fear Haaland could be sidelined for remainder of campaign following knee issue against Newcastle

Manchester City fans are deeply concerned that star striker Erling Haaland may be out for an extended period after sustaining what appeared to be a serious knee injury in the closing stages of the team’s 4-0 victory over Newcastle United.

The Norwegian forward, who was captaining the side, had to be substituted off the pitch just minutes before the final whistle at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland collapsed to the ground clutching his knee in obvious pain, requiring medical attention before being helped off the field.

The injury comes at a critical juncture in City’s season, with crucial matches against Real Madrid in the Champions League and Liverpool in the Premier League on the horizon. The club’s medical staff will thoroughly assess Haaland’s condition to determine the severity of the injury.

Manager Pep Guardiola attempted to downplay concerns in his post-match comments, stating: “When he went down everyone was worried. But he got up and was walking with a smile as usual. I haven’t spoken to the doctors yet, but they haven’t reported any major issues. We’re hopeful it’s not as bad as it could have been.”

However, City supporters remain anxious, especially after already losing midfielder Rodri to a long-term ACL injury earlier this season. Many fans expressed their fears on social media, with one saying: “Haaland’s knee buckled just like Rodri’s did. We desperately need him for the Real Madrid match.”

The club and fans alike will be eagerly awaiting further updates on Haaland’s status in the coming days. His availability could prove crucial to Manchester City’s aspirations in both domestic and European competitions as the season enters its final stretch.
