Manchester United Pursuing Leon Bailey Transfer from Aston Villa
Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey before the January transfer window closes. This potential deal is separate from Marcus Rashford’s expected loan move to Villa for the remainder of the season.
With Rashford’s departure, United are looking to fill the gap in their attacking options under new manager Ruben Amorim. According to reports, United prefer an initial loan deal for Bailey.
The 27-year-old Jamaican international has not been a regular starter for Villa this season under Unai Emery, coming off the bench in several Premier League matches. However, he has featured more prominently in Villa’s Champions League campaign.
Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has scored 21 goals in 134 appearances for the club. United had previously scouted Bailey earlier in his career but opted to sign Jadon Sancho instead.
As Rashford finalizes his loan move to Villa, United are focused on bringing in attacking reinforcements. The club has already approached Bayern Munich regarding young winger Mathys Tel, who recently turned down a move to Tottenham.
With the transfer deadline approaching, United will be keen to complete a deal for Bailey or another attacking option to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
