Manchester United Unveils “Mission 21” Strategy to Reclaim Premier League Glory
Manchester United has revealed an ambitious new plan dubbed “Mission 21” aimed at securing the club’s 21st English league title. The strategy was presented to staff by Sir Dave Brailsford, Ineos director of sport, who is taking on an expanded role at Old Trafford alongside technical director Jason Wilcox.
The “Mission 21” initiative falls under the broader “Project 150” scheme, which aims to restore United to Premier League champions by the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028. Key figures driving the project include CEO Omar Berrada, Wilcox, Brailsford and chief operating officer Collette Roche.
Brailsford is focusing on performance, applying his signature “marginal gains” philosophy that brought success in cycling. Meanwhile, Roche is overseeing modernization of training facilities and Old Trafford redevelopment plans.
The club has also brought in external experts, including legendary athletics coach Harry Marra and former Liverpool performance nutritionist James Morton. Morton previously worked with Team Sky cycling, overseeing nutrition for four Tour de France victories.
A separate “Mission 1” plan aims to help the women’s team win their first Women’s Super League title.
While the club pursues these long-term goals, the men’s team continues to struggle for consistency under new manager Ruben Amorim. After a brief upturn, United suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace, leaving them 13th in the table.
The Red Devils face upcoming FA Cup and Premier League fixtures as they look to salvage their season while building for future success under the ambitious new strategy.
