An Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force, initiated by minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has confirmed intentions to demolish Manchester United’s current stadium and construct a new one on adjacent land.

Manchester United hopes to have the new stadium ready within five years.

Architects from Foster and Partners, the firm responsible for the design, stated that the stadium will feature an umbrella-like structure.

This design element sparked conversation on social media, with several fans suggesting that the tent-like roof makes the stadium look like a “circus.”

Some fans even likened it to the Butlin’s Minehead holiday resort.

Manchester United is currently experiencing a poor Premier League season, sitting at 14th position.

The stadium design has become a target for fan mockery, adding to the club’s woes.

One fan commented online that Manchester United is aware enough to put a giant circus tent around their new stadium.

Another user questioned whether it was Old Trafford or Butlin’s Minehead.

One fan remarked on the resemblance of the new Manchester United stadium concept to a circus.

Another joked about Manchester United spending £2 billion to build a circus.

One post humorously suggested that the netting was to prevent Diogo Dalot’s errant crosses from reaching the nearby railway.

Another fan joked about Apprentice contestants being tasked by Lord Sugar to design the UK’s biggest stadium.

And another comment simply described it as “Butlins on steroids.”

Finally, a post noted that the new stadium looks very “circus-y” and out of sync with its surroundings.
