Marcus Rashford and Ruben Amorim’s Relationship Soured Early On at Manchester United
The relationship between Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim and forward Marcus Rashford deteriorated rapidly, just days after Amorim took charge of the club.
Sources indicate that prior to Amorim’s third match as manager against Everton on December 1st, he accused Rashford of going out partying. This led to a heated exchange where Rashford denied the allegations and asked Amorim to provide evidence.
“Rashford was called in by Amorim who said he believed Rashford had breached discipline by going out,” an insider revealed. “Rashford denied it strongly and insisted he had done nothing wrong. He asked the manager to show proof and said something like ‘Are you calling me a liar?'”
This early confrontation seems to have permanently damaged their relationship. Rashford scored twice in the 4-0 win over Everton, but has only started one match since then. He is now seeking to leave the club before the transfer deadline, having not featured in United’s last 12 games.
This is not the first time Rashford’s off-field behavior has caused issues. Last year, previous manager Erik ten Hag fined him two weeks’ wages for missing training after a night of drinking in Belfast.
Rashford believes he is being unfairly targeted on orders from new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who wants to remove his £325,000 weekly wages from the books. However, his high salary is proving to be an obstacle in securing a move away from Old Trafford.
With time running out in the transfer window, Aston Villa are reportedly considering a late loan offer for the England international. Previous potential moves to clubs like Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Barcelona fell through due to Rashford’s substantial wages.
