Mohamed Salah Jokingly Compares Liverpool Title Wins

Mohamed Salah offered a playful take on Liverpool`s recent Premier League title victory, humorously suggesting it felt more satisfying compared to their previous win under different circumstances.

Liverpool recently secured their 20th English top-flight title, a significant achievement following a season of strong performances.

As a key figure, Salah contributed notably to this success, scoring crucial goals and maintaining an impressive tally throughout the season.

He was also integral to Liverpool`s Premier League triumph five years prior, playing alongside attacking partners Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino during Jurgen Klopp`s tenure as manager.

A major difference between the two title-winning moments is the presence of supporters in the stadium this time around.

The 2020 league title, which ended Liverpool`s nearly 30-year wait, was celebrated largely without fans due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the recent celebration was unrestricted, allowing the team and fans to share the moment fully.

Speaking about the latest success, the “Egyptian King” cheekily commented that securing the title under new manager Arne Slot felt even more special to him.

He told Sky Sports: “Ah, this is way better 100 per cent.”

Smiling, he then jokingly remarked on the absence of former colleagues: “Without Sadio, without Jurgen, without Bobby, without everybody…”

He clarified that sharing the victory with the fans was a key reason it felt more special.

He added that winning with a different squad and manager demonstrates the team`s enduring capability, calling it “something special.”

Salah is now the sole remaining star from the celebrated attacking trio (Salah, Mane, Firmino) who were instrumental in Liverpool`s return to domestic and European dominance, including winning the Champions League.

Sadio Mane departed Liverpool for Bayern Munich in 2022, and Roberto Firmino left in 2023; both now play in Saudi Arabia.

Salah recently committed his future to the club by signing a new contract, remaining a cornerstone alongside veteran defender Virgil van Dijk, another prominent player from the 2020 title-winning side.

The winger also praised the new Dutch boss, Arne Slot, acknowledging how his tactical approach has positively impacted his own game.

Referring to his performance statistics, he humorously stated: “You can see the numbers! Now I don`t have to defend much.”

He further explained the tactical shift, recalling that he conveyed to the manager that if he had fewer defensive responsibilities, he could contribute more offensively, expressing satisfaction that this approach proved effective, as evidenced by his statistics.

While recognizing that defending is necessary in the Premier League, he felt he could take calculated risks to make a decisive impact offensively, highlighting his number of assists as proof of his ability to create chances.

After the title confirmation, the new manager Arne Slot, who largely retained the squad inherited from his predecessor, paid tribute to Jurgen Klopp and even led the Anfield crowd in a chant honoring the former boss.
