Netflix has unveiled the trailer for its highly anticipated live-action series “Bet,” an adaptation of the popular manga “Kakegurui.” The trailer was released on YouTube.
“Kakegurui” is set in a prestigious private academy where the hierarchy among students is determined by their success in high-stakes gambling within the school. The arrival of Yumeko, the main protagonist, begins to disrupt this established order.
The lead role in this new Netflix adaptation is played by 20-year-old Canadian actress Miku Martineau. The show is scheduled to premiere on May 15th and will consist of ten episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long.
The “Kakegurui” manga series began publication in 2014. Prior to this Netflix adaptation, the manga has been adapted into a Japanese live-action drama series and a feature film, as well as a two-season anime series by studio MAPPA, which has received IMDb user ratings of 7.1 out of 10 and KinoPoisk ratings of 7 out of 10.
