Over the Hill Celebrates 1 Million Wishlists with Closed Playtest and New Algeria Reveal

The recent Triple-i Initiative showcase delivered exciting news for fans of indie and AA games, especially with an update on Funselektor and Strekla Games’ upcoming off-road exploration title, Over the Hill.

The developers announced a significant milestone: Over the Hill has already garnered over one million wishlists on Steam, even without a firm release date. To commemorate this achievement, a closed playtest will be held later this month, running from April 24th to April 26th. Enthusiastic players can register now for a chance to participate and experience a focused build of the game.

Adding to the excitement, a brand new playable region was unveiled: Algeria. This area promises breathtaking landscapes inspired by the real-world country, inviting players to traverse plateaus, uncover ancient ruins, and navigate sandy valleys. The expansive environment will offer numerous opportunities to discover new routes, points of interest, and even fallen meteorites.

While the exact launch date for Over the Hill remains unconfirmed, the developers reiterated that the 2026 release window is still the target. The game will first debut on PC, with versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 slated to follow.
