Pakazs Aims to Revitalize North American Dota as an Offlaner

Shopify Rebellion’s Dota 2 team has been relatively quiet this season, with only one appearance at a tier-1 tournament resulting in a single victory. However, the North American roster is making waves at DreamLeague Season 25 with a new addition: Christian “Pakazs” Savina, formerly known as one of South America’s top carry players, now taking on the offlane role.

Pakazs, who had been inactive for over six months, has quickly made an impact. In just one day of group stage matches, Shopify Rebellion has already won more games at the tier-1 level than in the past six months combined. While their opponents weren’t top-tier, this performance marks a significant improvement for the team.

The Peruvian player’s transition from carry to offlaner is noteworthy. Pakazs has been diligently practicing offlane heroes for the past month, mastering over thirty different characters. His dedication is evident in his DreamLeague performance, where he’s showcased four different meta heroes in four games, demonstrating versatility and skill in his new role.

Unlike some players who struggle to adapt when switching from carry to offlane, Pakazs has embraced the position’s responsibilities. He’s not monopolizing farm, actively engages in fights, initiates skillfully, and willingly draws enemy focus. His statistics support this, showing a balanced approach to the offlane role without overshadowing his midlaner in farm priority.

A standout moment against Moodeng Warriors highlighted Pakazs’ impact. He baited the enemy team out of their base and then executed a precise double Doom ultimate, showcasing game sense and ability usage that many experienced offlaners struggle with.

While it’s too early to declare a resurgence of North American Dota, Pakazs’ performance with Shopify Rebellion offers a glimmer of hope. His motivation and skill adaptation have already made the team’s matches more compelling to watch, which is a positive step forward for the region’s competitive scene.
