Manchester United icon Paul Scholes enjoyed a successful first day at Cheltenham on Tuesday, securing a significant win.
The former midfielder, aged 50, placed a £2,500 bet on Kopek Des Bordes to win the opening race in Gloucestershire.

Having placed a £2,500 wager at even odds, Scholes walked away with £5,000 in winnings.
Scholes hinted at further participation, posting on Instagram: “Here we go then…”
In other races, particularly race five, there was shock as highly favored horses Constitution Hill and State Man both fell.
Constitution Hill’s fall occurred as he was moving into a promising position in the Champion Hurdle.
State Man, leading significantly, also fell close to the finish line.
Golden Ace ultimately won the race at 25-1, having previously defeated Brighterdaysahead at the Festival last year.
Trainer Nicky Henderson reassured that Constitution Hill was unharmed, stating to ITV Sport, “He seems fine. He’s very bright and breezy.”
Willie Mullins commented on State Man’s fall, “It’s part of racing. These are the highs and lows.” He expressed relief that the horse was okay.
Winning jockey Lorcan Williams expressed his elation, calling it “the best day of my life by far” and a childhood dream realized.
Williams also expressed concern for the fallen horses, Constitution Hill and State Man, acknowledging their iconic status.
He praised Golden Ace’s performance and the decision to enter her in this race, expressing gratitude to be part of the winning team.
Williams recounted his race strategy, initially focusing on following Constitution Hill, and then aiming for second place after the favorite fell, ultimately leading to their victory.
