The KazChess Masters tournament, held in Shymkent from March 21 to 29, concluded with Pranav Venkatesh securing a dominant first place. The event brought together five seasoned international grandmasters and five promising Kazakhstani players in a single round-robin format, leading to exciting competition.
Venkatesh delivered an exceptional performance, clinching victory with an impressive score of 7.5 out of 9 points, clearly surpassing his closest competitor, Shamsiddin Vokhidov. His remarkable play earned him an outstanding Tournament Performance Rating (TPR) of 2795.
Beyond the top finishers, the tournament also showcased the significant progress of local talents. Notably, young Danis Kuandykuly, born in 2013, exceeded initial expectations by scoring a commendable 4 out of 9 points, signaling a bright future for Kazakhstani chess.
