In recent years, the video game market has been inundated with a wave of remasters, many of which appear to follow a predictable formula. The primary intent behind such releases is often twofold: to offer a gesture to the existing fanbase and, simultaneously, to test the waters for a potential grand return of a franchise.
Relevant examples include the recent launch of Legacy of Kain, on which we have already offered our perspective, and the somewhat unfortunate remake of Dead Space. Despite boasting superb technical execution, the latter regrettably failed to achieve the commercial success its quality deserved.
