Real Madrid Target Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola as Possible Next Manager

According to recent reports, Real Madrid are considering Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti. Iraola has made a significant impact since joining Bournemouth in 2023, leading the team to impressive results in the Premier League.

Under Iraola’s leadership, Bournemouth has secured 31 victories in 72 matches. This season has been particularly successful, with 12 wins and only 6 losses in 25 games. As a result, Bournemouth currently sits in fifth place in the league table, just one point behind the top four, and boasts a positive goal difference of 15.

Iraola’s achievements have not gone unnoticed, and he is now reportedly on a shortlist of candidates being considered by Real Madrid to potentially succeed Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager, who has led Real Madrid to multiple Champions League and La Liga titles, may retire this summer according to Spanish media reports.

While former Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, is considered a frontrunner for the position, Iraola’s impressive work at Bournemouth has put him in contention. With just one year remaining on his contract after this season, Iraola could be vulnerable to approaches from interested clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur is also said to be monitoring Iraola’s situation as they evaluate Ange Postecoglou’s future. However, given the success he has achieved in transforming Bournemouth into European contenders, Iraola may prefer to continue his project at the Vitality Stadium.
