Real Madrid’s Interest in Alexander-Arnold Could Benefit Liverpool

Real Madrid is prepared to offer Liverpool a transfer fee for Trent Alexander-Arnold to secure his services before the Club World Cup in June.

The Spanish club had previously paused their pursuit after Liverpool rejected a £20 million bid in January.

Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Anfield is expiring on June 30, which would allow him to move to another club without a transfer fee.

However, Real Madrid is keen to have the 26-year-old England international right-back join Carlo Ancelotti’s team in time for the Club World Cup, starting in the USA on June 15.

To make this happen, Real Madrid would need to reach a transfer agreement with Liverpool to release Alexander-Arnold from his contract early.

Liverpool’s season could extend until May 31 if they advance to the Champions League final in Munich.

The Premier League season is scheduled to conclude on May 25.

Liverpool are currently leading the league by a significant margin and are likely to secure the title well before the end of the season.

This summer’s transfer window will open earlier than usual on June 1 to allow new signings to participate in the Club World Cup.

FIFA has established a special registration period from June 27 to July 3 before the tournament’s knockout stage, enabling clubs to add two more players to their squads.

Real Madrid’s first match in the Club World Cup is against Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia in Miami on June 18.

Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, is still hoping to convince Alexander-Arnold to sign a new contract, despite slow progress in negotiations that have been ongoing for a year and a half.
